Once you arrive to Calama, our people will meet you at the airport, and then theyāll take you to a brief reunion with the expedition guide in charge. This is necessary to solve any doubts and to check if your mountain equipment is appropriate and make a visit to Valle de la Luna (Moon-Valley) on the evening.
Weāll visit the Geysers del Tatio which will be of use for our acclimatization process, since these are at 4.200masl, being the highest geothermic fields in the world. Weāll be back to San Pedro de Atacama for lunch, and then head south to the Atacama Salt Flat. Afterwards weāll set up our first base camp at LejĆa lagoon where weāre going to see our first challenge, the Lascar volcano (5.592masl).
On this day weāre going to drive to the Altiplanic Lagoons (Miscanti and MiƱiques), which also are placed at high altitude (4.200m).
Weāll be already acclimatized and able to conquer our first summit. Weāll leave early morning heading this summit; once there, weāll be able to look at our second goal, the Licancabur volcano. After weāve reached our first goal, weāll head back to our base camp and take it down and go back to San Pedro de Atacama to spend the night.
Weāll head to the Chilean frontier with Bolivia and do a short trekking by Laguna Verde and Laguna Blanca and the Licancabur village. Afterwards weāll go to spend the night at the park refuge.
We leave early morning to reach the summit. After a 7 to 8 hours hike weāre going to conquer the Licancabur summit and to gaze at the altiplanic landscape and also its lagoon right at the very top of it. Finally weāll prepare to descent and come back to San Pedro de Atacama to spend our last night at the Chilean north area.
