Beyond the Summit: A New Year of Growth, Safety, and Logistical Evolution
Experiencing our high altitude season closing is always a moment to pause and evaluate. However, looking back at what we have lived these past few months at High Mountain Expeditions (HME), the balance does not speak of an unusually exceptional year. Rather, it shows us something much more valuable: the ultimate confirmation of our standard. In fact, after 18 years traversing the most imposing summits of South America, this cycle represents a firm step forward in our technical evolution.
It has been an incredibly intense season where we welcomed mountaineers from various countries. Therefore, we proudly reaffirm that our service level remains unwavering in the face of the highest global demands, proving that operational excellence is our absolute norm.
The True Success: Safety
In professional mountaineering, the summits are undeniably the main objective. Nevertheless, real success is measured by the team’s overall integrity. For this reason, the accomplishment that makes us proudest as operators is successfully completing the season with zero serious accidents.
The high mountains are unpredictable, and that is precisely where protocols prove their real value. During this summer, we safely executed three medical evacuations. Specifically, our emergency response systems worked exactly as they should, allowing all our clients to be fully recovered today. Ultimately, that is the unmatched peace of mind HME offers.
Global Logistics
The Ojos del Salado volcano once again became the epicenter of massive international challenges. As usual, our logistics formed the sturdy backbone of these megaprojects. For example, we directly supported Jiří Zak’s world altitude record and the World’s Highest Marathon operation. Undoubtedly, these milestones flawlessly demonstrate the installed capacity that HME makes available.
Currently, we are steadily growing as a company. Furthermore, this growth is accompanied by immediate reinvestment in high-end equipment and base camps. Consequently, we are already optimizing every operational detail to ensure that next season is even more robust and comfortable.
